Emmanuel Macron “maintained”Sunday January 7, with the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, and the Minister of Ecological Transition, Christophe Béchu, “to ask them to speed up responses to the situation that the inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais are going through, particularly with the arrival of cold weather on soggy, or even always flooded, soils”.
“He asked them to act even more quickly to help the affected populations, the most precarious and the homeless”announced the Elysée.
The head of government is expected in the department on Tuesday “to discuss all the solutions to be put in place”, underlined Matignon. In the meantime, the Minister of Housing, Patrice Vergriete, could make announcements on Monday within the framework of the Great Cold Plan and the presentation of other measures concerning emergency accommodation.
Pas-de-Calais is still on orange flood alert for two rivers, the Lys-Plaine and the Canche. The Aa, which reached the red level last week, has returned to yellow, and the decline is in progress.
According to the prefecture’s latest report, 195 municipalities and 2,084 homes were affected by this second episode of exceptional flooding in less than two months, which led to the evacuation of 743 people.
