“The Olympics are in 200 days and they start now.” In a video posted online early this Monday morning on different social networksthe President of the Republic sends a message just over six months before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Head of State highlights efforts to organize Games that do not pollute too much. “We are going to host in France the most low-carbon Olympic and Paralympic Games in history, green Games which respect the Paris agreements”, signed in 2015 and whose objective is to keep global warming below 2°C and to tend towards a maximum of +1.5°C compared to the pre-industrial era. Emmanuel Macron, who appears in front of the camera in boxing gear, also insists on the place of women in the competition: “we are going to host equal Games with as many sportsmen as sportswomen”
The president also focuses on a more French aspect of the event, mentioning the “more than 70 local authorities who will participate in the organization”. “We will host Games everywhere in the country, from Paris to Marseille via Tahiti. »
He also mentions the sporting ambitions of France which “will have exceptional Olympic and Paralympic delegations with, I hope, many French medals”. He then took the opportunity to send a message to the attention of all French people. “For that we have a great national cause this year, it’s sport. We made 30 compulsory minutes of sport in primary school and more sport in middle school,” he recalls. “I invite you all to do at least 30 minutes of sport a day, more if you can, but at least 30 minutes a day because it is good for your health and for many things. And it’s also a way of having Games that will remain in our everyday practices. »
