At least four people they died and a child was injured this Monday in a confrontation between indigenous people and farmers, apparently, for the possession of some heads of cattle in the department of Presidente Hayes (west), in the Paraguayan Chaco, reported the National Police. The deceased are two indigenous people and two farmers, declared the director of the Presidente Hayes Police, Commissioner Luis Bazán, to channel Trece.

The police chief indicated that the conflict allegedly originated when the farmers moved to an indigenous community located in the Naranjaty neighborhood, where their parents had rented some land to house cattle. Bazán indicated that allegedly a former indigenous leader – who lost his life in the confrontation – did not allow the peasants’ children to “remove the animals”. Each side had filed complaints for cattle rustling and possession of livestock.

The authorities moved to the place, to which there is no land access but by river.
