Over 1,600 Expatriates Arrested for Violating Labor Laws in Oman

Muscat: The Directorate General of Labor in Dakhiliya and Al Wusta governorates conducted a survey and arrested 1,635 expatriates for violating labor laws.

During the survey, 2,464 private sector institutions were visited by the Joint Inspection Unit. As a result of the examination, 1,267 people were deported, 86 institutions were closed, and legal action was taken against others, with some cases being referred to public prosecution.

The inspections took place between December 12 and January 1, and the arrests were made as a result of various violations of labor laws.

This effort by the Directorate General of Labor aims to enforce labor laws and ensure that all expatriates working in Oman are doing so legally and in compliance with the country’s regulations.

This serves as a reminder to all expatriates and private sector institutions in Oman to adhere to the labor laws and regulations to avoid facing similar consequences.
