Police Investigate Rs.82 Lakh Gold Bar Fraud in Coimbatore

A case of alleged fraud involving the purchase of gold bars worth Rs.82 lakhs from a jeweler in Coimbatore is currently under investigation by the police.

The incident involves Chondhav Saravanan, a 49-year-old jewelry shop owner in Krishna Nagar, Chokkambudur, Coimbatore, and Sonda Viswanathan, a 47-year-old individual from the Ukkadam area.

According to reports, Viswanathan had informed Saravanan that he was planning to open a new jewelry shop on January 5 and would be selling gold bars, offering to purchase them from Saravanan at an additional price.

In response, Saravanan provided Viswanathan with approximately 1,362.81 grams of gold bars with a total value of Rs.82 lakh on December 29 and 30.

However, when Viswanathan’s jewelry shop failed to open on the specified date, Saravanan attempted to contact him, only to discover that Viswanathan’s mobile connection had been disconnected.

As a result, Saravanan promptly filed a complaint at the Selvapuram police station, prompting an investigation into the matter.

The police are currently looking into the case and working to gather further information related to the alleged fraud. As of now, no further details have been released regarding the ongoing investigation.
