Three Injured in Hovercraft Accident on Hjälmaren

A civilian hovercraft crashed between Vinön and Hampetorp on Hjälmaren on Wednesday evening, leaving three people injured. The alarm about the accident came in just after half past seven, according to Johan Gustavsson at SOS Alarm.

Multiple stations from the rescue service participated in the operation, with an ambulance and rescue helicopter initially dispatched to the scene. However, they were later able to return home as the affected individuals were transported on the ice to the mainland by quad bike, where they were met by paramedics.

All three individuals have been taken to the hospital by ambulance, with no serious injuries reported, according to the police. The initial assessment by the police suggests that the accident was caused by the hovercraft colliding with a rock.

“The police will draw up a report where it will be investigated whether the driver was guilty of a crime or not in connection with the accident,” states the police incident report.

The incident has prompted an ongoing investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the accident to come forward.
