US Stocks Close Higher as Dow Jones Rises 0.45%

Stock indices in the United States rose at the close of trading on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones adding 0.45%. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ also saw gains as the session ended.

Among the leading stocks in the index today, Home Depot (NYSE: HD) stood out, adding 3.06% to its value, while Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) added 1.86% and Walmart (NYSE: WMT) added 1.24% in late trading. However, Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ: WBA) and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) were among the worst performers of the session, declining by 2.68% and 1.21% respectively.

The best performers in the S&P 500 index included Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ: ISRG), Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ: PANW), and Viatris (NASDAQ: VTRS), which all saw significant increases in value.

In the NASDAQ index, Nauticus Robotics Inc (NASDAQ: NRSBY), Greenbrook TMS Inc (NASDAQ: GTMS), and Clearmind Medicine Inc (NASDAQ: CMND) were among the best performers, while DocGo Inc (NASDAQ: DCGO), Pono Capital Three Inc (NASDAQ: PC3), and Exo Bionics (NASDAQ: EXO) were among the weakest stocks.

The number of shares that closed higher exceeded those that closed lower on the New York Stock Exchange, and trading on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange saw more stocks decline than gain.

Several stocks reached significant milestones, with Intuitive Surgical, Palo Alto Networks, Home Depot, and Microsoft all climbing to new highs, while shares of DocGo Inc and Pono Capital Three Inc fell to all-time lows.

In commodity trading, gold futures and crude oil futures saw mixed results, while the EUR/USD pair maintained stability.

The US dollar index futures contracts traded down, settling at 102.10.

Overall, the closing of the trading session in the US saw significant gains in stock indices, with some stocks reaching new highs and others facing declines. And more developments are expected as trading continues.
