At the Tashkent Zoo last Friday, a horrific and shocking experience took place, around 12 noon, an anonymous young woman threw, in front of the public, a 3-year-old little girl into the bear enclosure.
The zoo said they were afraid to even think how this story would end if the bear would respond to a fallen child, like a predator to prey. The Caucasian brown bear ‘Zuzu’, who was lying in his compound, followed the actions of a woman who threw the girl over the metal fence. Despite attempts by visitors and the zoo staff, the woman could not be arrested and she nevertheless threw the child into the predator.
Zuzu the bear slowly descended into the ditch, approached the girl, sniffed and left. Zoo staff responded quickly and began enticing the bear to enter the inner room, which he immediately entered.
The girl was taken out of the compound and examined by a zoo nurse. The girl suffered only from falling from a height of almost 5 meters, and not from the teeth of a predator. During the initial examination, in addition to the bruises, no serious bruises were visible.
The zoo said that “this case characterizes our Zuzu bear as a balanced predator, who has no anger towards humans. We especially want to note the result of proper care of the captive predator by the ward staff, their kind and careful attitude towards the bear. Indeed in working with him they do not show rudeness “Spirit, they try to pamper him all the time with pampering and can easily control his behavior, even in such an extreme situation.”
Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the reasons for this case, and the child is under the supervision of doctors. Tashkent Zoo bears all the costs of providing medical care to a girl.
