Only support for Ukraine, not sending troops: NATO changes stance

by time news

LondonJens Stoltenberg, Secretary-General of the Military Alliance, says Russia has no plans to send troops to Ukraine in the event of an attack. He said Ukraine was not a member of NATO and, therefore, could not send troops. However, Stoltenberg said he would support Ukraine.

He pointed out that there is a difference between a NATO member state and a partner country that NATO values, such as Ukraine. NATO’s position comes as Russia continues to deploy large numbers of troops along its border with Ukraine. But the U.S. has warned of a possible retaliation if Russia attacks.

But Russia says it has no plans to invade Ukraine. The U.S. has warned that Russia will attack Ukraine ahead of a military deployment on the border. US President Biden has warned that Russia’s re-occupation of Ukraine could be a major setback.
