The midfielder has signed with the Ligue 2 team until 2025.

Midfielder Dimitri Liénard, former captain of Strasbourg, has signed up for Sochaux (National) until 2025, the Franche-Comté club announced on Thursday.

The native of Belfort, a neighboring town located around ten kilometers from Sochaux, comes to bring his experience (35 years) to this historic French football club, relegated to the third tier and which came very close to bankruptcy in the summer last.

Dimitri Liénard knows the third division well, which he won under the colors of Racing club Strasbourg in 2016. He spent the majority of his career with the Alsatian club, winning a Ligue 2 championship title and a Coupe de la League in 2018.

With Racing, Dimitri Liénard played 172 matches in Ligue 1, and 327 in total. Last summer, he signed with SC Bastia, but he terminated his contract last November.

FC Sochaux-Montbéliard are fifth in National, two points off the podium, and still in contention in the Coupe de France, where they will host Reims (Ligue 1) in the round of 32 on January 21.
