The Extension Project International Conjuncture, Systems of Global Power and the Perspectives for the CPLP’s Insertion in the Multipolar World, coordinated by professor Sebastião de Lima, from the Sociology Course, will be held next Thursday, January 18th, starting at 3pm , in Room 207, of the Palmares Academic Unit (II), the debate entitled “International Situation 2024 – Brics, Africa, Middle East, Elections in the USA and Russia.

To participate in this event, which has 40 places, simply send a request to the email: [email protected]

The aforementioned activity aims, according to the organizer, “to build a panorama of perspectives for the international scenario of the year that begins. The addition of new nations to the bloc of countries that form the BRICS and the role of the African continent in the new remodeling of the multipolar world; the possibilities for peace or the intensification of wars involving Israel and the Palestinians, Russians and Ukrainians; and the North American elections, are the main events that cause unknowns and instability”.

Thus, continues Sebastião de Lima, “These events, together or separately, can trigger profound disruptions on a global or regional scale. What consequences will arise with the expansion of the BRICS? Is the decline of US/Europe/NATO hegemony irreversible? How will the US presidential elections affect Latin America and the world? These are questions that will be answered at the event, pointing out possible combinations of possibilities.”
