Rome: A video of a mother tiger and a baby girl from Rome’s Bioparco di Roma zoo is going viral on social media. The first days of the Sumatran tiger mother and her cub can be seen in the video footage. In the footage, the mother tiger and her cub are lovingly licking the entire body of the baby.
The mother and cub are currently in the private area of the zoo. The cub has been named Terima Kashi. It means ‘Thank you’. The sight of the tiger cub showing mischief with its mother without a moment’s restraint is captivating.
Sumatran tigers are also a critically endangered tiger species. Reasons like poaching and habitat destruction have led to a decline in their numbers. They have a lifespan of up to 15 years in forested areas. It is reported that there are less than 600 Sumatran tigers left in the forested areas of the world.
