Exit the old-fashioned post office. In the vast space of the La Poste agency on rue Taitbout (Paris 9th), full of light and transparency, several innovations are concentrated: designer franking terminals, stamps and goodies in the colors of the Olympic Games, distributors of franked products self service. But what catches the eye is an imposing yellow cube enthroned at the bottom of the space. The iconic PTT mailbox, which has existed since 1960 in its famous yellow version, has been reinvented in gigantic proportions.

In the absence of signage, visitors wonder about its function. “There was even a customer who wanted to slip his mail through the slot in the door,” relates Sandrine, the agency’s operations manager.
