In addition, the new organization will bring STMicroelectronics even closer to its customers in key markets. According to ST the move comes at a time when there are signs of recovery in the chip industry, with growth expected this year

European chipmaker STMicroelectronics is reorganizing its operations into two product groups, compared to three previously. The Swiss company wants to increase efficiency and get closer to customers, in a decision that will also reduce indirect expenses. The reorganization will take effect on February 5. As part of this, the company is establishing a new applied marketing organization in all regions.

Following the reorganization, STMicroelectronics’ product groups include: Analog, Power and Discrete, MEMS and Sensors, led by Marco Cassis; and microcontrollers, digital circuits and RF products, led by Rami Al-Owazan. The APMS group will include analog, carrier, silicon carbide, MEMS and sensor products. The MDRF group will cover digital chips, microcontrollers, RF and infotainment chips. As a result of the change, Marco Monti, the former President of the Automotive Products Group and Discreet, is leaving the company.

ST CEO Jean-Marc Chery claimed that the move will speed up time to market and improve innovation. “This is an important step in our strategy, in line with the value proposition for all stakeholders and the business goals we have set,” he said.

In addition, the new organization will bring STMicroelectronics even closer to its customers in key markets. The move comes at a time when there are signs of recovery in the chip industry, with growth expected this year.
