Kings of Africa with seven victories at the CAN, the Pharaohs of Mohamed Salah start favorites in Group B, ahead of Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
The reign of the Egyptians is however contested: the record holders for victories in the event remain in two lost finals, in 2017 (2-1 against Cameroon) and 2022 (0-0, 4 tab to 2 against Senegal).
Mozambique is an outsider: the “Mambas” have never won a match in four CAN, with two draws and ten defeats. Having become a coach, local legend Chiquinho CondĂ©, who played as a player in the 1986, 1996 and 1998 editions, hopes to reverse the curve.
