“I managed to create a new life”, announced the star of “Game of Thrones” Kit Harington (37) in the new podcast The Hidden 20%, in which he was a guest and will soon be aired.

Excerpts from the podcast were published last weekend in the British newspaper The Times, in which Harrington spoke openly about being diagnosed with ADHD (attention, concentration and hyperactivity disorder). “I realized that my life depended on it. Fortunately, it was the right moment and the right place to diagnose it,” he said, explaining that he went to an American clinic where he received the diagnosis.

During the podcast, Harrington told the host, Ben Branson, about the difficult year he had in 2019, when he was in and out of rehab facilities. “I entered a rehab center drunk, I got sober, I told myself it wasn’t right for me and I left very quickly. I told myself I would try to deal with it alone – which didn’t work.”

Harrington also talked about the fatherhood of his two children whom he shares with actress Rose Leslie, whom he met on the set of “Game of Thrones”. “I’m a good father now,” he said. “I’m sober and present but there are challenges stemming from my attention deficit. My head wants to attend to everything at once and I have trouble sticking to one task or just one game – especially when I’m playing with my two-year-old son.”

Harrington added that he sometimes experiences challenges when it comes to combining parental responsibility with his acting career: “I’m not good at multitasking. If there’s more than one thing going on in my head, I go into the market. I get nervous, worried. I can’t handle it.”

The “Game of Thrones” star was hospitalized in a rehab facility in 2019, when his associates said he had a hard time coping with the end of the series. “He realized that it was really over, that the series had come to an end. He worked hard for so many years and felt that he was left with nothing. He is treating the stress and anxiety that accompany him, and also the alcohol addiction that he suffers from.”

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the English actor confessed that at one point he thought of ending his life: “I went through periods of deep depression, where I wanted all kinds of things.” He also said: “Things that happened to me since ‘Game of Thrones’ ended and happened to me during the filming, were traumatic for me and they did include alcohol,” he said, noting that he suffered from depression. After leaving rehab, Harrington faced another challenge – saving his marriage, which was in crisis at the time. According to him, the quarantine during the Corona actually contributed to their relationship, because then the couple, who got married in 2018, got a chance to be alone with each other. “She taught me what kindness is.” In January 2021, Harrington and Leslie gave birth to their first son and last July they expanded the family unit and gave birth to a second daughter.
