The Naples City Council decided to demolish two buildings in the San Giovanni neighborhood to improve their homes, and one of them has a mural dedicated to Maradona on one of its facades.
The decision, which generated joy and sorrow among the Neapolitans, was made with the aim of re-urbanizing the area, especially the buildings that contain the murals of Maradona and Nicló, a renowned Italian autistic child, due to the structural failures suffered by both structures. which were designed as a residential solution after the Irpinia earthquake in 1980. Nicló symbolizes the human being, while Maradona, who for the Neapolitans was almost a god, represents the “human face”.
