“The President of the Republic will fill the Palasport like a rock star!”. Thus the mayor of Pesaro, Matteo Ricci, gives the official announcement that the inauguration ceremony of ‘Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture 2024’ will be opened on Saturday by the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, together with the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, ” no longer in a theatre, as in previous editions in other cities, but inside the Vitrifrigo Arena in front of eight thousand people (7,500 free entrance tickets have already sold out in just a few days, with just another 500 available to book). an inauguration of the people like never before – he underlines during the conference presenting the event – we have made a choice of popular participation rather than reserved only for the authorities and excellent guests”.
Pesaro is therefore preparing for what is announced by the mayor as “a great day of civic but also regional and national pride: January 20th will remain a historic date for our territory, the beginning of an extraordinary year – exclaims Matteo Ricci – For all of us, it will be a great opportunity for national and international visibility, for a challenging year that will require an incredible effort. The hope is that the whole of 2024 will be a ‘Rossinian crescendo’ but we will have to know how to earn this title of Italian capital of culture day after day “. And the deputy mayor, Daniele Vimini, promises: “No fireworks, we want to light an Olympic fire, with the desire to implement specific projects to reinvest in the territory and in the long term, to generate productive and cultural work”.
After the institutional interventions in the morning by President Mattarella, Minister Sangiuliano, the regional governor Acquaroli and Mayor Ricci, in the afternoon and evening there will be space for music, with a show hosted by Paolo Bonolis which will see first the concert by Max Gazzè, then the dancing with the music of the Casadei Orchestra, then the night party for the younger ones with Rosa Chemical. And then, the Olimpia Orchestra composed only of women musicians, Mariangela Gualtieri with an unpublished poetic hymn, a video in collaboration with CERN in Geneva. The year of Pesaro, Italian Capital of Culture, will have as its unifying theme ‘The nature of culture’, to unite art and environment, science and technology, music and literature, theater and food and wine, with over a thousand events throughout the entire territory, for what it announces itself as a seamless happening.
