Due to all the advantages that are known, it is necessary that in this new stage of government the export activity of the province continues to be strengthened with measures that aim to optimize the export of products abroad and generate a greater workforce in each of the areas. The recovery in exports that San Juan had achieved during the period between 2021 and 2022 of almost 8% compared to previous years had a slight decline during 2023, so it would be advisable to start a recovery stage during this year. with measures that aim to improve the conditions to achieve an effective increase in the volume of exports in all areas, especially the traditional agro-industrial and wine sector. Regarding mining exports, the activity has generally maintained similar export volumes as it is an area in which the province stands out for its existing resources and exploitations.

An important aspect of export activity is that in addition to promoting an increase in export volumes, objectives must be focused on promoting greater added value to each of the products offered, especially those linked to the agricultural sector.

Promoting greater added value to exports means generating activities around them that enable the creation of more jobs, also making it possible for there to be more products with the San Juan seal of origin and fewer bulk sales to packaging centers that are outside the province. To this end, appropriate financing conditions must be generated by the provincial government or credit entities to promote productive projects that contemplate the possibility of creating new jobs from local products, especially from the agricultural sector. Within this scheme, the need arises to review the withholding policy proposed by the national government and the actions that the province’s Ministry of Production, Labor and Innovation may carry out.

There are many sectors that can give rise to this phenomenon, among them the production of sweets, fresh fruits with designation of origin seals, dried fruits, frozen vegetables, and many other canned products, preventing what happens, for example, from happening. with the tomatoes, the vast majority of which are sold in bulk to the province of Mendoza, which is correctly managing this market, obtaining a noticeable improvement in export levels comparable to San Juan. While our province exports 1.5% of the total exports of the entire country, Mendoza exceeds 2.1%. Marking the difference between both provinces, these levels are the ones that must be overcome along with an increase in added value in order to truly consider that there is an improvement in this activity.

It has been stated on several occasions that provinces such as Santiago del Estero, which lacks mining and has less exportable infrastructure than San Juan, have historically been exceeding the export levels of our province (with levels of around 1.8%), which shows that local exports could improve considerably.
