Terrorism in the 8th district of Ashdod: A resident of the neighborhood, a teshuvah man who prays in Hasidic synagogues, threatened to kill a Hasidic rabbi of Vizhnitz in the 8th district, the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Berger, one of the senior rabbis in Hasidism, and the Rebbe of Maalitz, who also lives in the neighborhood.
Residents of the neighborhood tell ‘JDN news’ that already a month ago, the same thug started terrorizing the neighborhood, when he attacked a Vizhnitz Hasidic at the entrance to the mikvah on Shabbat evening. “He was studying martial arts,” the victim says about that attacker, “and he suddenly attacked me without any prior provocation. It was a second before murder. I’m not exaggerating. A few young men managed to stop him and called the rescue forces.”
According to him, the police forces that arrived at the scene asked the assailant why he committed the serious act, and his strange answer was that several years ago, in Lag Baumer, the assailant drank coffee and intended to spit on him… The whole neighborhood,” wonders the attacked. The police have not yet given a response.
Another serious incident took place last Friday, when minutes before Shabbat, the assailant attacked the Vizhnitz Chasidic rabbi in the neighborhood, Rabbi Shmuel Berger. “I witnessed the event and I was shocked,” says one of the devotees to ‘JDN News’. “The attacker saw the rabbi up close, started running amok in his direction, dropped the shtreimel and began to attack him. Miraculously, the attacker stumbled in the middle of the beating mask and thus ended the attack, which could have ended in murder, since the rabbi is approaching 80 years old.”
According to the witness, the assailant shouted: “I will kill you. I will kill everyone, including the Rebbe of Melitz.” The reason: his bag went missing in the mikvah and according to him, the Vizhnitz Hasidim were the ones who stole it. It should be noted that after the previous attack, the assailant was asked not to to enter more into the Vizhnitz Beit Midrash, and since then he has mostly been hanging out at the home of Gur’s followers in the neighborhood.
According to residents, the attacker attacked another rabbi in the neighborhood, and the residents are afraid to deal with the matter because of the terror of the thug. Just this evening, a group of Vizhnitz followers approached the police station to file a complaint.
