A huge boom in the film industry in Saudi Arabia. Local media reported that the gross sales of cinema tickets exceeded 180 crore Riyals in the last two years. Last year alone, 1 crore 70 lakh tickets were sold.
It now has 627 screens in 69 theaters across the country. The figures were shared during an online meeting on box office performances of Saudi films. Collaboration between government and public sector organizations was discussed to promote talent in the country and increase related infrastructure to attract investment in the film industry. After a gap of four decades, the cinema sector in Saudi has grown significantly with the re-opening of theaters in 2018.
