At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, the alarm came in about a fire in an apartment building in the Drottninghög area of Helsingborg. Seven people have been taken to hospital, of which two with life-threatening injuries and one with serious injuries, according to Region Skåne. The other four have minor injuries.
– According to the information I have received, two children have life-threatening injuries, says Jessica Schale at the region’s press service.
According to the region, the children who suffered the most serious injuries are under twelve years old.
According to her, another six people should have sought care on their own at the emergency department at Helsingborg Hospital after the fire, which means that a total of 13 people were injured.
Previously, the region stated that four people had life-threatening injuries, but then changed the information.
The police’s press spokesperson, Rickard Lundqvist, says that they also have an effort at the scene, to assess whether a technical investigation should be carried out, as well as what the case should be classified as.
He says that the house where it burned is several stories high. How the fire started is currently unclear.
– At the moment, I don’t know if the people were injured in the same apartment, he says.
According to the police, the effort was made more difficult by the fact that there were many people at the scene who got in the way or interfered with the work of the rescue services.
