Embarrassing documentation: A senior officer in the Iraqi army, at the rank of lieutenant colonel, was recorded violently slapping and hitting a senior officer at the rank of lieutenant colonel, while humiliating him and bending his head with his elbow. The documentation from the incident that happened on Saturday was published on social networks all over the world, and the Iraqi Minister of Defense, Thabat Muhammad al-Abassi, who came across the bizarre documentation, ordered the arrest of the two immediately in order to investigate the incident that put the Iraqi army in ridicule and disgrace in the eyes of the whole world.
On CNN, they brought the response of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense to the case: “Some of the social media sites distributed a video clip of two officers who behaved in a manner unbecoming of the military rank, and outside the rules of ceremony and military procedures used in the Iraqi army – which has a long and proud 103-year history of heroism and the sacrifice”.
“On the basis of these childish actions,” added the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, “which are not worthy of the reputation of the Iraqi army and its great history, the Minister of Defense, Thabat Muhammad al-Abassi, the director of military intelligence, assumed that the officers who appeared in the video clip would be arrested.”
The Ministry of Defense in Iraq also stated: “A commission of inquiry will be established against them to find out the truth and investigate the versions of the two, and according to this it will be determined whether to oblige them under the country’s ‘military service and retirement law’.”
The ministry confirmed that “any member or officer who performs any action that harms the good name of the ministry and its past history will be punished, and there will be no exemption from responsibility if any party commits any behavior that harms the history of the heroic Iraqi army.”
