The Provincial Director of Education has issued a circular to all schools in Central Province.
The said action has been taken considering the complaints received from the parents.
In the circular, it has been stated that the headmasters should obtain the permission of the education department for conducting religious festivals and any other programs other than those permitted in the circular.

According to this, principals have been given permission to conduct only 07 ceremonies throughout the year i.e. three ceremonies in the first term and four ceremonies in the second and third term.
In response to the complaints received from parents that various groups including the Principal are collecting unlimited money by organizing various celebrations including music programs and teacher tributes, the Central Provincial Education Director has taken steps to issue a circular.
