The heavy rains that hit the entire state of São Paulo since last Thursday (18) have already left four dead and 492 people homeless. According to Civil Defense, 15 municipalities were most severely affected by the storms.

The forecast is that rain will continue across the state in the coming days. This Sunday (21), there are conditions for precipitation at any time of the day. In the capital of São Paulo, the day dawned very cloudy and light rain was forecast throughout the afternoon and evening.

According to Civil Defense, Peruíbe, on the coast of São Paulo, was the municipality that recorded the highest rainfall on Saturday (20). The city had 131 mm of precipitation and had flooding points in at least 7 neighborhoods. Trees also fell and two houses were flooded.

Since Friday (19), four people have died because of the heavy rains that hit the state. On Friday afternoon, mother and daughter drowned after being swept away by the rain in Limeira (151 km from São Paulo), in the Campinas region. In the early hours of Saturday (20), an elderly woman, aged 74, died in Sorocaba, also in the interior, after the car she was in was swept away by the storm.

Also on Saturday, a 60-year-old woman died after being struck by lightning on the beach in Bairro Caiçara, in Praia Grande, Baixada Santista. She suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and died, according to information from Praia Grande City Hall and GBMar (Maritime Fire Brigade).

According to the CGE (Climate Emergency Management Center), the cold front, which caused a lot of rain in the capital of São Paulo on Saturday, is beginning to move away from the coast of São Paulo and should cause lighter rains in the coming days.
