It was the first delicate decision to take for the new Attal government. The price of electricity will increase by almost 10% for French households on February 1, a consequence of Bercy’s desire to gradually exit a price shield that is very costly for public finances. This is what Bruno Le Maire announced on Sunday on TF1.

In detail, the Minister of Economy and Finance explained that the increase in the bill will be 8.6% for the 10.6 million French people in residential with the base rate, when it will be 9. 8% for the 9.3 million households having opted for the peak/off-peak rate.
