In Tel Aviv, the Center for Accessible Culture was recently opened, a beautiful building that won the 2023 Pharmacist Award for Architecture, which is the new home of the library for the blind and those with learning disabilities.
On the occasion of the opening of the Mishkan, an exhibition is presented with 24 creative chairs, the product of the design of designers, whose studios were financially damaged following the war. In the spirit of the times, the designers.Yam chose to tell a story, provoke thought and pour new meaning into the chairs, through a work full of hope, which will resonate how much life is stronger than everything.

The empty chair is charged with a deep meaning, which resonates more in the current period, the chair in culture and art is not just an object or an object, it has become a symbol in the being of the absent and present to those who created it, and to those who sat on it when they return.

The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Tolman’s company and the Fresh Paint group, which was launched in 2023. Shirley Schwartz, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Tolman’s, “The Take a Seat project was created as a response to the situation, the main idea was to give a new and creative meaning to individual chairs, which were selected from the selection of international design brands imported by Tolman’s, but in view of the aforementioned situation it was charged with topical meanings And relevance with a thought for those who are not with us – and those who have not yet returned, and for the sake of the community and the creators whose livelihood was damaged.

Yifat Gurion, co-founder and chief curator of the Tri Color Group: “In these challenging times, we continue to believe in culture and creativity, and in their ability to comfort, restore and rebuild. While the great power of the art and design field is being mobilized to help society, local designers have a vital need to preserve the creative process in the studio and generate traffic and income.”

The Center for Accessible Culture, the new home of the library for the blind on Moshe Dayan Road in Tel Aviv, is a unique urban project, a creative and production center to make all levels of culture accessible: literature and journalism, film and television, theater, music and visual art – for the blind and visually impaired.

The center is designed to provide an answer to about 15,000 blind, sight-impaired and reading-impaired throughout the country, working to reduce cultural and social gaps between the visually impaired and the sighted public.

Entry to the exhibition is free, but pre-registration is required.
