The American company “Apple” is testing adding a new button to the camera of this year’s iPhone (iPhone 16), according to a report on the “The Information” website.

According to the website, the button will be located on the lower right side of the device, so it will be under the index finger when taking photos and videos in landscape mode.

Rumors about the new camera button have been circulating since at least September, when the MacRumors website revealed the feature under development, indicating that the button would work by sensor and simulate pressure with vibration. But “The Information” says it will be like a traditional button, with additional features that make it sensitive to touch and pressure, allowing users to swipe left and right to control the camera zoom, or press it gently to adjust focus on a subject.

Both sites agreed that the button will be tested to include it across the entire iPhone 16 lineup, which includes the regular and Pro models. Also, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported earlier about the possibility of the new button arriving on phones.

In this context, Apple would not be the first smartphone manufacturer to include a dedicated camera button on one of its phones. But it will be an important inclusion in the most popular smartphones sold today, after Apple surpassed Samsung in shipping the largest number of smartphones in the world for the first time during the past year.
