Controversy Surrounding the Film ‘Vivekanandan Vairalaan’: Complaint and Response from Producers

ShyThe complaint is that the film ‘Vivekanandan Vairalaan’ directed by Kamal starring Tom Chacko is sending a wrong message to the society. The makers of the film have also responded to the complaint. One of the producers, P.S. Shelliraj wrote on Facebook:

‘Vivekanandan Viral is the producer of the current situation, we have received a lawyer’s notice against our film Vivekanandan Viral. A case has been filed in the Hon’ble Kerala High Court. They argue that this movie is anti-male and if women start reacting like this then men can’t go out. We have never tried to insult or abuse the male community as a whole through this film. We are of the opinion that whether the wrongdoer is a man or a woman, they should suffer the consequences.

‘It is an open secret that there are men around us like Vivekananda who outwardly pretend to be respectable but see and treat women as slaves. We believe that identifying and bringing out such multifaceted people and empowering our girls to respond is one of the most necessary things for the progress of the country. This subject has a lot of importance as this subject has not been shown in cinema till now. We are not ready to shy away from the topic that needs to be addressed. If you feel scared after watching this movie then I would say you are also a Vivekananda. In any case, we will deal with this case decisively. A thousand thanks to my loved ones who are watching the film and supporting us.’- the producer clarified.

Swasika and Grace Antony are the heroines in the film. Marina Michael, Johnny Antony, Mala Parvathy, Manju Pillai, Neena Kurup, Adyana, Siddhartha Shiva, Sarath Sabha, Pramod Veliyanad, Josukutty, Ramya Suresh, Nias Bakker, Sminu Sijo, Vineet Thattil, Anusha Mohan and others are also cast in the film. Cinematography of the film is done by Prakash Velayudhan and editing by Ranjan Abraham. B.K. Harinarayan’s lyrics are composed by Bijibal.
