Mobilization of farmers: what are the main roads blocked?

Another complicated day on the roads. Farmers’ demonstrations continue this Tuesday. In particular, they are demanding administrative simplifications and protesting against new pesticide bans.

As a result, roads are blocked in different departments by tractors and straw bales. In Ariège, a car forced its way and hit several people this Tuesday morning. A mother died, her husband and daughter were seriously injured. The incident occurred around Pamiers, at 5:45 a.m. this morning near the RD 119 bridge.

These demonstrations could last “a day”, “a week”: the time it will take for the answers to be provided”, declared on RMC the president of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau. “To our farmers: I asked the government to be fully mobilized to provide concrete solutions to the difficulties you encounter,” said declared the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron in the early afternoon.

According to feedback from farmers on the ground, there will be “blockages which will occur throughout the week, continuously or sporadically depending on the location,” said the union official. We take stock of the main blocked axes.

• In New Aquitaine. The main blockage in this region is on the A62, cut between Agen (Lot-et-Garonne) and Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne). Blockage points have also been indicated on the A62 at the Bayonne and Pau center interchanges. In Dordogne, three blocking points are organized on the Nationale 21 near Bergerac, in Thiviers, as well as the entrance to the A89 motorway at La Bachellerie.

• In the north of Occitanie. In Haute-Garonne, the A64 is blocked in Carbonne, and at the roundabout at the start of the RN125 in Comminges near Gourdan-Polignan. Disruptions to be expected on the A64 near Saint-Martory (no. 20), on the A645 and on the A62 near Eurocentre (no. 10.1). In the Gers, the RN124 is cut at Pujaudran but also on the Landes side, in the Dému sector. The Albi ring road has also been cut since 10 a.m. near the Fonlabour agricultural high school until Wednesday afternoon. The A20 motorway is cut north of Montauban towards Cahors, from exit 61.
• In the southern part of Occitanie. In Ariège, there are still disruptions on the A66 near Pamiers Nord (exit no. 3). But the blockage on the RN20 is being lifted after the tragedy, according to the prefect of the department. In Aveyron, action was announced on the RN88, with a blocking of the Tanus Viaduct. Finally, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, disruptions are also underway on the A64 still near Tarbes, at Capvern (n° 15).
• In Rhône-Alpes. This Tuesday morning “farmers forced the service entrance to the A7 motorway at Saint-Rambert-d’Albon”, an hour’s drive south of Lyon, at Saint-Rambert-d’Albon indicated the Drôme prefecture in a press release. “Around thirty tractors with trailers containing bales of straw and slurry are blocking traffic in both directions”, causing several kilometers of traffic jams at midday.

• In Île-de-France. The blocking of the A16 motorway in Oise began at midday. Around thirty tractors and around a hundred operators have set up to occupy the Beauvais Nord toll barrier, on the A16. A total blockage, with the exception of the emergency lane, which could last all day, or even longer, according to several demonstrators.
