Thiruvananthapuram: The archery and kick boxing competitions held on the first day of the International Sports Summit (ISSK) enthralled the spectators. About one hundred and thirty players from various states of South India participated in the archery competition at the Greenfield Indoor Stadium. Under 10, 14, 18 and open category recurve, compound and Indian bow competitions were organized. Players from around 20 clubs in Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala participated in the matches. The competitions were organized under the leadership of Thrissur-based Olympic Archery Academy.
Kickboxing competitions were organized under the aegis of Kickboxing Association of Kerala. 65 players from different districts of Kerala participated. The match was played in 49 holes in three rounds of three minutes duration.
The biggest sports expo has started
Thiruvananthapuram: The sports expo organized as part of the first international sports summit has started. There are about forty stalls of sports equipment manufacturers and start-up enterprises from different parts of the country. Apart from sports equipment, gym equipment, health care and sports equipment are on display.
The gym system that can exercise up to 16 people simultaneously in a limited space was noticed at the exhibition. Pune-based Summit Sports has showcased a variety of open gym equipment. There is also a display of gym equipment that can work in different weather conditions. A demonstration of the Netrin app developed with the technical assistance of IIT Madras has also been prepared. Netrin’s real-time fitness app helps track physiological data. That way one can make adjustments to the exercise routine without the help of a trainer. The sports medicine section also has a variety of equipment on display. The devices can be purchased by the general public at great discounts. Entry to the exhibition is free from 9.30 am to 10 pm.
