This crime has generated rejection from Colombians, who ask for greater protection for women.
“We reject the feminicide of Diana Carolina Serna in La Unión, Valle del Cauca, allegedly at the hands of her ex-partner. We call on the authorities to adopt measures that mitigate gender-based violence. Our condolences to the family of Diana Carolina,” said the Ombudsman’s Office.
The Colombian ambassador to Argentina, Camilo Romero, also spoke about what happened to Diana Carolina.
“What pain is the feminicide of Diana Carolina Serna. Imagining her helplessness in the face of the atrocious attack that took her life breaks the soul. The daily tragedy of thousands of violated women must be forcefully rejected by the country, as a society, so that it stops this infamy,” the diplomat trilled.
This fact is recorded one year after the femicide of Valentina Trespalacios in Bogotá, who was found on January 22, 2023 inside a suitcase inside a garbage container.
The main suspect, her ex-partner John Poulos, who was captured in Panama and deported to Colombia, remains on trial and has not yet received a sentence. However, he remains imprisoned in La Picota prison.
