Regarding how he met his wife, Katerina Maihairiotis, Pavlos Marinakis revealed: “We were both in law school, I was in the 3rd year, she was in the 2nd, we met in the bouzoukis of Komotini. I saw her in a shop where everyone was smoking, she was the only one who wasn’t smoking and I asked her for a lighter, she was the only one who wasn’t smoking.”

In closing, Pavlos Marinakis also referred to the health problem he has been facing in recent years, saying: “I have Crohn’s disease, it is a serious autoimmune disease in the intestine. I was elected secretary of the ND and at that time my wife was diagnosed with coronavirus. I was negative but had a fever. I had tests, the doctor announced that I have Crohn’s disease and I told him “perfect”. I was almost glad, the doctor lost it. I asked him a question “am I going to die from this?”. He told me “no but you will have to adjust your life”. I tell him “since I won’t die I’m happy”.
