Peace. Within the framework of reducing the digital divide in the country, last Friday the Undersecretary of Innovation, Denis Pocasangre, enabled free access to high-quality internet in the central park of Santiago Nonualco, La Paz, as part of the program “Connecting El Salvador.”

Thus, mobile device users will be able to enter the network, which does not have any password to guarantee its accessibility. In these public spaces where free internet has been enabled, citizens will be able to consult information online, as well as have access to digital procedures available at the Single Window of the Government of El Salvador (www.simple.sv).

“We have turned on the signal so that people can also connect in Santiago Nonualco, San Pedro Nonualco and Santa María Ostuma,” added the official.

Through the Ministry of Innovation, to date, the project has 40 public spaces enabled with this type of internet; The government has exceeded the goal of reaching 100 points throughout the national territory.

The official explained that even though access is given without the use of a password, at the moment, the system has a high security filter to guarantee that good use is made of this tool that has been made available. The Government is betting on this project to generate spaces where technology, innovation, research and culture come together and thus advance the digital transformation of El Salvador, concluded the undersecretary of innovation.
