The current mayor of San Salvador and candidate for mayor for San Salvador Centro, Mario Durán, assured that he is ready to govern the new municipality that is made up of the districts of Ayutuxtepeque, Ciudad Delgado, Cuscatancingo, Mejicanos and San Salvador.
“We are not going to arrive on May 1 to see what there is, we are already working with all the municipalities, seeing what the needs are, seeing exactly how each of the issues will be addressed. They are not going to catch us by surprise, that is, we are going to start working from the first day, we are already working, but we are going to execute from the first day we take over these districts,” the mayor explained in a television interview.
Likewise, the building chief indicated that there will be an immediate migration of San Salvador’s work systems to the new districts, to optimize services and maintain quality of life standards for the entire population.
“We have to put order in the accounting, the finances, the garbage issue. We have tried to put the best people in the right positions. When we unite all the districts we are going to have to take all that knowledge to execute it in each of these places. We intend for them to be as efficient as in San Salvador and for all the services that the mayor’s office provides to be in the best way in each of the districts. We are already migrating these efforts to each of the districts,” she explained.
He added: “We are going to assume the responsibility of transforming each of these municipalities and
take them completely to another level, you know that I am a mayor who works, who keeps his promises, so we are going to be with you at the time, when it is our turn and we are going to work to move all these municipalities forward,” he said.
With less than two months until the next elections for Municipal Councils, polls have shown Durán leading the polls and have determined that he is the second most popular politician, after President Nayib Bukele.
