Remembrance Day celebrations 27 January 2024
23 January – 1 February 2024

Remembrance Day is celebrated on January 27th in memory of the victims of the Shoah. The anniversary commemorates the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1945 by Soviet troops.
Many children who survived the extermination, through “memory”, during their lives, chose to tell, testify and help understand one of the most atrocious dramas in the history of humanity.
This year, the Municipal Administration celebrates the anniversary with a series of events organized in collaboration with the Music Institute of the City of Rivoli Giorgio Balmas and ANPI from 23 January to 1 February 2024.

Friday 26 January at 9.00 pm – show by the Città di Rivoli G. Balmas musical institute “PARETI”, loosely based on the novel “The Master” by Robert Ford. Martina Malavolti soprano, Giovanni Damiano on piano and Filippo Bulfamante, narrator of a show that through reading and music evokes the shadows of the Holocaust, while underlining the human ability to trespass, going beyond every spatial and emotional barrier. “Walls” tells and interweaves the lives of three musicians, caught at the dawn of the fall of the wall between East and West Germany: a young American conductor, an oboist who fled from the East, an old German maestro who lived through war and concentration camps, and whose past is shrouded in mystery. A great fresco on love, hate and the consequent ability of man to overcome physical and emotional walls. As a counterpoint to the whole story, there are great figures of music, above all, that of Johannes Brahms. Free entry while places last.
