Cusco FC beat Melgar 3-2 for the first date of the Apertura Tournament of League 1 2024
Melgar vs Cusco FC: the Cusco club beat the ‘rojinegro’ team 3-2 on Friday, January 26, for the first date of the Liga 1 2024 Apertura Tournament. The clash was played at the UNSA Monumental stadium in Arequipa.
The ‘golden’ managed to advance the match successively after opening the scoring 7 minutes into the first half through attacker Lucas Colitto. The ‘domino’ recovered with a goal from Bernardo Cuesta (19′), but the Argentine Juan Manuel Tévez made it 2-1 in the first stage.
The Uruguayan Pablo Lavandeira via penalty gave light to the Arequipa team, however, with a counterattack, Tévez added a double and sealed the victory as a visitor in his debut in Peruvian soccer.
Melgar will visit César Vallejo on Friday, February 2 at the Mansiche stadium in Trujillo for the second date of the Apertura. Cusco FC will face UTC at the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega on the same day.
