Darts: Premier League live bei SPORT1

After the World Cup is before the Premier League – and this year it will be available live on TV and streamed on SPORT1!

The arrows are flying again on SPORT1! After the exciting Darts World Cup, the multi-channel sports platform is of course also right in the middle of the Premier League, which starts on February 1st, as the next big darts highlight.

In the Premier League, eight top stars are always in action on Thursday evenings, fighting for tournament victories and important points for a ticket to the final event in the biggest arenas over 17 weeks from February to May. With the new world champion Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall, the top four of the Order of Merit were already qualified for the competition.

After the Darts World Cup, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) announced the four other starters with Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, Rob Cross and child prodigy and surprise World Cup finalist Luke Littler. SPORT1 covers the Premier League extensively as usual and broadcasts all match days on Thursday evenings live from 8:00 p.m. on free TV and in the 24/7 live stream SPORT1.de and in the SPORT1 apps.

That’s not all, because like last season, SPORT1 is showing the format “Madhouse – The SPORT1 Darts Show” in the run-up to the Premier League, which will now be moderated by Katharina Kleinfeldt alongside Basti Schwele. In the half-hour show from 7:30 p.m., which will now also be broadcast on free TV in addition to YouTube, the upcoming match day will be heralded and the darts community will interact directly.

In the upcoming Premier League season, the mode that was successfully introduced in 2022 will be continued: The eight starters will play their own tournament on each weekly match day with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a subsequent final. (Darts – The most important terms)

The winner will receive prize money of 10,000 pounds. Points will also be awarded with which the four best players can ultimately qualify for the decisive play-offs on May 23rd in London. In addition to the second most important title after the Darts World Cup, there is also an impressive prize money of 275,000 pounds.

New darts star Luke Littler makes his debut

The game is still mainly played in Great Britain, with the Premier League stopping off in Berlin on February 8th and in Rotterdam on April 18th.

With the new world champion Luke Humphries, his predecessor Michael Smith, Premier League defending champion Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall, the top 4 of the PDC Order Of Merit were automatically qualified for the Premier League.

The field of participants is completed by four invited players: The 2023 Premier League finalist Gerwyn Price, the two-time world champion Peter Wright, the World Cup semi-finalist Rob Cross and, for the first time, 17-year-old Luke Littler, who is at the Darts World Cup caused a sensation and only had to admit defeat to Luke Humphries in the final.
