The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reported that the 3rd generator of the Nuwara Eliya Thermal Power Station has malfunctioned again.
The generator, which had been out of order since December 3, was repaired and reconnected to the national grid yesterday.
In this situation, the Ceylon Electricity Board has stated that the generator has failed again due to a technical problem that occurred today.
It has been reported that this could lead to a shortage of 270 MW of electricity in the national grid.
However, the Public Utilities Commission said that permission had not been granted to impose a power outage.
