VILA NOVA DA BARQUINHA – Municipality implemented a cooking oil collection network

by time news

Cooking oil is a product of vegetable origin that, when not deposited in the oil, poses a risk of pollution in the sanitation network. By properly disposing of this waste, watercourses are prevented from being affected. Furthermore, with one thousand liters of used cooking oil (OAU) around 950 liters of biodiesel are produced, an environmentally friendly biofuel that could very well be the future of transport, contributing to the supply of sustainable energy that does not harm the Planet. . Bearing this reality in mind, the Municipality of Vila Nova da Barquinha implemented a selective collection network for used cooking oils available to residents, which has 12 oils distributed throughout all parishes in the municipality. The collection is then carried out by a licensed entity hired by the City Council, Hard Level. There are some rules for oils to be deposited in containers. The main thing is that only used cooking oil and olive oil are deposited. Used cooking oil, after cooling, must be placed in a clean plastic container. When it is full, it must be tightly closed and deposited inside the oil pan. Products such as butter, lubricating oil (engines), or other types of waste must not be placed.
