For state corporations and companies with state participation, deadlines have been set for the transition to domestic software. They will have to use Russian operating systems (OS), office suites, anti-virus programs and virtualization systems from January 1, 2025, and database management systems (DBMS) from January 1, 2026. This is stated in the methodological recommendations of the Ministry of Digital Development, published by January 12, 2024 on the department’s website. At the end of 2018, the government prepared a directive on the transition to the predominant use of Russian software. This document provided that state-owned companies had to develop and approve appropriate plans.
