The US plans to place nuclear weapons in the UK in response to the growing threat from Russia.

The British Sky News network reported that Pentagon documents reveal contracts for a new American nuclear weapons facility in Britain and “show that the US intends to place nuclear warheads three times the power of the Hiroshima bomb at an air base.” Atomic bombs were dropped on the city of Hiroshima in Japan at the end of World War II.

This will be the first time in 15 years that America has placed nuclear weapons in Britain.

“Documents in the procurement database of the US Department of Defense reveal plans for a ‘nuclear mission’ that will take place soon and be stationed at an air force base,” the Daily Telegraph reported.

The nuclear weapons were reported to be B61-12 bombs, which could be launched from fighter jets.

The Telegraph reported that it was part of a NATO plan to “develop and upgrade nuclear sites” following the Russian invasion.

In response to the report, a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense said: “It remains longstanding UK and NATO policy to neither confirm nor deny the presence of nuclear weapons at a given location.”
