In the Perambalur district, urban local elections will be held on the 19th in 21 wards in the Perambalur municipality and in a total of 81 wards in 15 wards each in the 4 municipalities of Kurumbalur, Arumbavoor, Poolambadi and Lebbaikudikkadu. Candidature filing for contesting in the above wards started on the 28th of last month at the concerned Municipal and Municipal Offices.
In Perambalur municipality, as the political parties have not filed their nomination papers so far, 3 independents had filed their nomination papers yesterday. On the 4th day yesterday in Perambalur municipality a woman to contest as an independent in the 4th ward and a man to contest as an independent in the 13th ward filed their nomination papers with the Assistant Returning Officer of the respective ward.
No one filed
But on the 4th day yesterday, no one filed nomination papers in Kurumbalur, Arumbavoor, Poolambadi and Lebbaikudikadu municipalities. The next day (Friday) is the last day to file nominations. As of yesterday, a total of 149 nomination forms have been procured in Perambalur municipality, 74 in Kurumbalore municipality and 80 in Lebbaikudikot.
