Bell Marques, former lead singer of Chiclete com Banana, met Claudia Leitte for the first time on stage. They met this Saturday (28), on the first of two days of the 25th edition of summer festivalin Salvador.

The singer appeared on stage while Marques sang “Que Força É Essa” wearing a bandana — a reference to the singer’s symbol — and a shirt with the artist’s face.

“I’ve known Claudinha for many years, this charming and kind figure,” said Marques, before combining his repertoire with that of the artist and her former band, Babado Novo.

Although the union was less exciting than that of Iza and Liniker, who shared the stage earlier in the event, Leitte made the audience sing with songs like “Amor Perfeito”, recorded by Roberto Carlos before being successful with Babado Novo, ” Extravasa” and “Claudinha Bagunceira”. Some of them appeared revamped with electronic beats.

Before Leitte took the stage, Marques had already left the Summer Festival audience excited. He spliced a sequence of excerpts from Chiclete com Banana’s hits such as “Dê Um Grito Aê”, “Eu Fui Atrás de Um Caminhão”, “Cabelo Raspadinho”, “Quero Chiclete” and “Meu Cabelo Duro é Assim”.

With Marques at the helm, the band has been a success in Bahia since the 1980s, having achieved national visibility in the 1990s and 2000s. It is to this day an entity of the Salvador Carnival, alive in its vocalist’s repertoire.

From the time when Bahian frevo prevailed during the Bahian Carnival, through fricote, the influences of lambada and even axé, Chiclete was present. There was no shortage of hits at Marques’ show, from “Diga Que Valeu” to “100% Você”, including “Selva Branca”, “Chicleteiro Eu, Chicleteira Ela” and “Vumbora Amar”.

Marques said that when the Summer Festival was as lively as this Saturday, it meant that Carnival would be special. In fact, the show seemed like a warm-up to the performances she will do in the coming days on the streets of Salvador, a stripped-down version of her electric trio.

It ended with “Não Vou Chorar”, guitar solos and the promise of a reunion at Carnival.
