by time news

Asteras Tripoli returned to winning ways, beating Atromitos 3-1 at “Theodoros Kolokotronis” in the match of the 20th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League.

Arkades climbed back to 6th place in the standings, overtaking Lamia who have two points less, and are now well on their way to the playoffs.

Atromitos experienced its second consecutive defeat in the league and now focuses on the second quarter-final of the Cup against Panathinaikos, next Wednesday (19:00, 31/1).

After a meaningless first quarter, Asteras opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Kaltsas took the ball on the right and crossed to the second post where Crespi was, who with a nice placement sent the ball into Tsintotas’ net.

Before the award of the goal, the phase was checked in VAR for offside at the beginning, specifically in the pass to Kaltsa. The Peristerians had a very good chance to equalize in the 34th minute as they won a penalty after Ender was overturned by Munafos in the area. The execution was undertaken by Vergos but he shot wide, depriving his team of the opportunity to equalize.

In the 42nd minute, the Greek striker tried to redeem himself with a nice effort that resulted in a shot, which was stopped by Grammatikakis. In the 53′, Bartolo made the projection and Tsintotas sent impressively to a corner, from the execution of which came the 2-0.

The corner was executed by Kaltsas from the right, Miritello turned the ball with his head to the second post where Crespi jumped again to double Astera’s goals with a projection, and after the phase was checked again by VAR, for six minutes!

Ilic’s players went even further ahead after 0-2 and managed to reduce in the 64th minute when Dirks crossed with a reverse foot from the right, De Bok headed in, Grammatikakis saved by sending the ball over Kastanios and from there in the net, giving new interest to the match.

The counterattack of the “blue and white” remained incomplete, however, as in the 77th minute the Rastavac players launched an exemplary counterattack, with Zougli and Crespi exchanging the ball and the former “laying” Kaltsa, who made it 3-1 with an unimaginable shot again giving “air” of two goals to Asteras.

Atromitos’ last chance to stay in the game was lost in the 81st minute, when after Djukanovic was sent off, Kunde took control and unleashed a very powerful volley that rattled Grammatikaki’s crossbar.
