The threat of a blockade of Paris is confirmed. The FNSEA and the Young Farmers of the Greater Paris Basin (Aisne, Aube, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Île-de-France, Marne, Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais, Seine-et-Marne, Seine-Maritime and Somme) decided, early Saturday evening, to launch a blockade of Paris, for an “indefinite period”. This new mobilization was called “the siege of Paris” by the organizers.

“Several blockade points all around Paris” will be set up on strategic axes, including motorways, “from 2 p.m.”, indicates Clément Torpier, the president of the Young Farmers of Île-de-France on BFM this Sunday. “The objective is not to annoy the population but to get answers from the government, to go further with the measures already taken,” he adds.

The “major nationals” also concerned

According to our information, the blockade of Paris, from 2 p.m., will be organized around eight blockade points. They will be located at the Chennevières area on the A1, near Jossigny on the A4, at the Ourdy total station on the A5, at the Pont de Villabé on the A6, at the Longvilliers bridge on the A10, at the Buchelay toll on the A13, between the Gennevilliers bridge and the D311 on the A15 and finally near the Isle-Adam interchange on the A16.

“It will be a total blockade,” warns Cyrille Milard, president of the FNSEA of Seine-et-Marne and coordinator of the blockade of the A4, A5 and A6 motorways. The blockage will happen in both directions, warns the union leader. The police will surely send motorists upstream onto the secondary network, but we can imagine that it will very quickly be completely saturated. »

In a “second phase”, the farmers of the Greater Paris Basin plan to block the “major nationals” of the Ile-de-France region, without giving an exact date. “This will be in the event that the government does not meet our expectations,” warns Stéphane Sanchez, director of the FNSEA Grand Bassin Parisien.

A thousand farmers could mobilize

The farmers are preparing the siege of Paris with a “quasi-military organization”, confides to the Parisian Stéphane Sanchez, director of the FNSEA Grand Bassin Parisien. “Rotations” will be put in place between farmers, to hold the roadblocks and stay “as long as possible”. “Those who come from far away will perhaps stay 12 hours, a whole day,” explains Stéphane Sanchez. We are also going to charter buses, to avoid those from the North, for example, having to come by tractor to the capital. »

Cyrille Milard, president of the FNSEA of Seine-et-Marne and coordinator of the blocking of the A4, A5 and A6 motorways, plans a total of 500 tractors and at least 1,000 farmers at the three blocking points. “This Monday, only farmers from Seine-et-Marne are mobilized then we organized rotations with those from Marne for the A4, Yonne and Aube for the A5 and Loiret for the A6. »

Hold “at least until Thursday”

This Sunday, the farmers are also finalizing the logistical organization in terms of food. “We think of everything and prepare carefully,” continues Stéphane Sanchez. We leave nothing to chance to create a real seat over time. » Stated objective: to hold at least until Thursday, the date of an extraordinary European Council in which Emmanuel Macron must participate. The abandonment of the fallowing of 4% of the agricultural area, demanded by the farmers, could be negotiated there.

On BFM, Clément Torpier affirmed that a “military” organization will be put in place in order to avoid a new accident. “It is unacceptable for a new accident to happen,” insists the trade unionist. On Tuesday, a breeder and her daughter were killed by a motorist who had forced a roadblock on the RN20 in Ariège. Gabriel Attal, visiting a farm in Indre-et-Loire, admitted having “not yet responded to everything”, but said he was “determined to move forward quickly”.

The Paris police headquarters “recommends that Ile-de-France residents favor public transport for their travel in Île-de-France”, it indicates in a press release issued this Sunday evening. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin had earlier indicated that traffic in the region would be “extremely difficult” on Monday, calling on the French “to anticipate and not congest the roads”.
