How do primary care and educational centers work together?

The Community Health course at the school is part of the Training Program of the Community Care Strategy in Primary Care, aimed at health and non-health professionals of the Aragonese Health Service, more specifically Primary Care Teams. It is aimed at people from different professional categories, especially nursing, but also medicine, social work, dental hygienists, physiotherapy, psychology and administrative assistant.

School is the environment where our boys and girls grow, develop, socialize, acquire life skills, and learn. Educational Centers work on Education and Promotion as a center project. Many of them are integrated into the Aragonese Network of Health Promoting Schools (RAEPS). The objective of the training is to offer strategies and models of collaboration with educational centers from primary care for the promotion of health in childhood and adolescence. Additionally, the specific objectives are:

  • Recognize the social and environmental determinants of health that influence childhood and adolescence.
  • Analyze key aspects of health promotion in educational centers.
  • Assess the different strategies and channels of collaboration between educational centers and health centers within the framework of community care.
  • Review the role of primary care professionals in health promotion at school.
  • Identify elements that allow the development of joint projects and networking in community health with educational centers.
  • Identify resources and create a useful toolbox for the development of community projects between the Educational Center and the Primary Care Team.

PROGRAM

It consists of 6 teaching units that are distributed as follows:

  • TOPIC 1. Health promotion at school. Basic concepts of Education and Health Promotion at School.
  • TOPIC 2. Health Promoting School. Do we know a Health Promoting school? Aragonese Network of Health Promoting Schools (RAEPS). Webinar: Experience of collaboration proposals with a primary education center.
  • TOPIC 3. Health in the educational center. Programming, organization, and communication and collaboration channels. Ways of organization and cooperation between the health center and educational centers.
  • TOPIC 4. Working with the Educational Community: Working with families. Strategies for family formation. Positive parenting.
  • TOPIC 5. Community environment. Healthy, safe and sustainable environment.
  • TOPIC 6. End of course webinar and explanation of the final project: Development of a community health project jointly between a Health Center and an Educational Center. Advice and training channels for teachers.
  • The Community Health course has a mandatory practical part, which consists of the preparation of practical work related to community health in schools in the basic health area and Health Centers, and also has an in-person (online) part. .

    Registration is done through Training Portal of the Government of Aragon (EGAF)and can be done until October 15.

    The duration of the course is from November 2 to 30, with a total of 18 teaching hours.
