Africa Cup of Nations hosts Ivory Coast upset the odds and eliminated champions Senegal 5-4 on penalties.
Senegal was the absolute favorite against the Ivory Coast, which went down with a service coach in the match, but the two teams were tied (1-1) and in the penalty shootout the “hosts” took the big qualification to the quarter-finals with 5-4.
In yesterday’s other game, Cape Verde defeated Mauritania 1-0 and qualified for the next stage. Ryan Mendes scored the “golden” goal in the 88th minute with an accurate penalty kick.
