At the end of the year, The Better India is going to introduce you to those five heroes of humanity who are making the lives of the elderly, the voiceless and the needy easier through their work.

Let’s meet those heroes of 2023 who won all your hearts.

Manubhai Panchal, a businessman from Kheda, Gujarat, has been helping the needy people around him for years by providing water to passersby. But, he died five years ago. After his father’s demise, his son Rakesh Panchal not only took over his shop but also became an example for many by adopting his service work.

Today, more than 500 people are taking advantage of tiffin from his organization ‘Visaano Parivar’. All this was possible because of Rakesh’s thinking and the teachings given by his father.

2. Asha Rajpurohit

30-year-old Asha Rajpurohit, who runs ‘Sudama Old Age Home’ in Deesa, Gujarat, left her own family, even her son, to serve the 22 elderly people living here, so that she can spend the rest of her life in an old age home. Can be used to serve the elderly living in the house. Today she lives here as a family of these elders.

Actually, this old age home was started 14 years ago by his father Kantilal Rajpurohit. He started this ashram to serve the destitute and disabled elders of the nearby areas. He died after running the ashram on his own for about 10 years. In his last moments, he had handed over the responsibility of running this ashram to his daughter, Asha.

3.Niharika Rana

25 year old Niharika Rana from Ghaziabad has been rescuing animals for the last three years. To help the voiceless, he has started a campaign on his own. Today she is running an organization named ‘Niharika Rana Foundation’ and under this she herself feeds food to more than 100 voiceless people every day.

Not only this, he has also rescued 500 injured animals in these three years. The best thing is that she does all this work along with her full time job and also spends more than half of her salary in these works.

4. Khushi Pandey

23 year old Khushi Pandey, resident of Lucknow, is doing the unique work of installing lights on bicycles, so that cyclists can be saved from accidents.

She is running this campaign by the name of Project Ujala through her organization ‘Sapno Ki Udaan Foundation’ and at night she herself goes around and lights the bicycle without light. Khushi has been working on this project for the last six years and till now she has installed lights on more than 1500 cycles for free.

5. Suman Madal Mehra

Suman Madal Mehra from Rajasthan got married at the age of just 14. There was financial crisis in the family, but despite all these difficulties, Suman studied and became a nurse so that she could become self-reliant and today by becoming a nurse, Suman has not only become self-reliant, but is also running a campaign to help the destitute and sick people of the society.

Suman is running a shelter home named Manav Seva Ashram in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. Today, 50 such needy people live in this ashram who are away from their families and have no one to take care of them during illness. Suman is not only serving them as a daughter and mother but is also fulfilling all their needs, from treatment to food, for free.
