Co-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD, part of the ruling coalition) Lars Klingbeil believes that the federal states of Germany should more actively use the opportunity to deport foreigners who do not have the right to stay in Germany.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, he expressed this opinion in an interview with the Neue Osnabrcker Zeitung newspaper.

“Now the federal states [ФРГ] have this opportunity, and they should use it,” the politician said. “The state must act when it comes to deporting aliens who are subject to removal.”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in the fall of 2023 in an interview with Der Spiegel magazine that in order to reduce illegal migration, German authorities will have to massively deport those who do not have the right to remain in the country. He admitted that “too many people come to Germany.”

Later, the German government approved several measures that tighten immigration laws and should make the country less attractive to illegal migrants. In particular, refugees will need to live 36 months in the republic to receive standard social benefits (18 months longer than previously). Funds will be transferred to a debit card so that foreigners spend money in Germany rather than transferring it to relatives abroad. At the same time, it was planned to reduce the processing time for asylum applications. The measures also include expediting the deportation of those whose applications are unsuccessful.
